So Sydney is on. There’s a line in ‘The Fashion Pack’ by Marion Hume where it says living in Sydney is like ‘living inside a perfume bottle’ and I thought it was really beautiful and it made me want to go and now I’m going! Not for RAFW or anything, the timing is purely coincidental. But I do get to go to Fashion Palette, this fashion conference thing this weekend. I love learning! Anyways, I booked my flight for Thursday, I return Saturday and the rest is history and by history I mean not much has happened since but I wikipedia-d Sydney and I’m trying to find couches to crash on and nice people to have coffee with. I might go to Double Bay to see the first buyer I looked after at NZ Fashion Week when I was 17. My friend Amber recommended “Newtown for cafes, boutiques and lesbians, can’t go wrong”. I would love to go to Bondi because I’ve heard so much about it. And I can’t wait to take a cheesy photo in front of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.
These are my friend Hayley‘s photos of Sydney. She’s a super photographer and she has her own radio show so that makes her ten or fifteen times cooler than me. Dammit.

Newtown is definitely the place to hang out in Sydney – I prefer it to Bondi myself. A must is a coffee frappe and breakfast at Lou Jacks, and if you have time, a yoga class with Samahdi Yoga. There’s gorgeous shops in Newtown too, and a bakery to die for…can’t remember the name though! There is also a…wait for it…BURGER FUEL!
In summer, the streets of Newtown are fragrant with frangipanis. I remember picking them up off the street and putting them in my hair….
Hope you have a lovely time!

You are so full of good advice! Have added Newtown as a definite on my list of things to do. Two days is not really enough. Yikes.
Weeny takes on Sydney, ey? (Jees, that really does sound like the title of a prono flick .. eww!!)
How I wish I could join you. I know I deserve a good break!
Keep us posted.
