Easter bunny kisses

Happy Easter! Excuse me, I have fallen into a food coma, there’s a Lindt dark chocolate bunny sitting across the table judging me and my finger tips are almost too fat to type, but I thought I’d share with you the prettiest critters and one of the most inspirational blogs I have ever seen.

Essimar Papel is an Etsy store where Chicago based artist Esther Ramirez sells her paper collages and notecards. She has quite a way with colour and patterns and she works with paper and a range of techniques from dotting, die cutting, silkscreening and layering to create these remarkable little artworks.

And her blog is where she documents her eye for beauty and her creativity and it is wonderful to see.

Holi

Last Wednesday was the Indian festival of colour, Holi. All over the country, citizens young and old take to the streets to celebrate with handfuls of colour and buckets of water. The Spring festival is one of the fondest memories of my childhood. In my neighbourhood, my friends and I dropped water balloons on each other, and soaked one another with water pistols and long water syringes called pichkaris, spent all morning plotting to wet and running in fear from each other, drenched to our bones, clothes ruined, going home to a hot bath and a big lunch.

Being Indian, one that hasn’t celebrated Holi in a decade now, the photographs below make me long to go home and visit, play scrabble with my grandmother and eat her delicious cooking, watch cricket  and listen to Nat King Cole with my grandfather and partake in the colourful, wet, joyous revelry.
