Mega International Hipster Points

My favourite person in the world Teva is on the cover of Pedal Speed this month. A Japanese magazine dedicated to bicycles and riding, particularly fixed gear and BMX bikes or whatever’s taken everyone’s fancy at the time.

They also apparently go around the world to different bike shops and different cities and feature their cycling scenes. New Zealand’s turn, an article inside the magazine features Teva and T-Whites bikes, the bike shop he works at. Launched just in time before he travels to Tokyo, we joked that he should casually read the magazine wherever he goes.

Peep the feature. Cute boy, cute shop.

No words

So hopefully, I’m in the mountains now but instead of neglecting you, here’s a little prepackaged present. Simone and I went vintage shopping in Tokyo and found this err.. gem. We pretty much never got over it, her liking it so much that she went back the next day and purchased it. Enjoy.

What I wore: Layer Cake

Smith St in Fitzroy ranks in my top 5 favourite streets in Melbourne. I took the opportunity to stroll along Smith St on my lonesome today browsing through the many stores and co-ops and salivating at the windows of the cafes and bakeries. I only had a fiver in my pocket but lo and behold, in a thrift shop was a wonderful nana-esque knit cardigan in immaculate condition for $2. Melbourne is starting to get quite cool and I’ve already been layering like a trifle.

There are all these weird light bubbles on me but I sort of like them. Also, I should get a remote.

I pinned a purple velvet bowtie that matches my purple stockings to my third layer. I strung a silver necklace through it so it all stays in place and I don’t have to wear any other jewelry.

Mmm texture. Mmm cake.

Another Barry to love

I knew today was gonna be a good day when the courier fellow woke me at an absurdly early hour to give me my pink unicorn. Teva had bought me a macbook sleeve online at Barry’s Farm when he was here ages ago and I excitedly checked my front door each day in anticipation. The original never arrived but was promptly replaced by them and sent by priority mail. As all unicorns should be.

It’s made of really high quality vinyl, is padded with foam, has a pink lining and it makes my lappy deliriously happy. I’m so impressed with Barry’s Farm – designer Barry and his girlfriend Katie make their products by hand, their laptop case range includes monsters, hedgehogs and cupcakes, and their customer service is excellent. Total heart.

P.S. Thank you my ickle unicorn.

Ksubi sale

I <3 Ksubi and I found me some Jeremy Scott loves Ksubi jeans at the Ksubi sale that’s on at the moment in Melbourne. The ones I wanted, the ones I blogged about here, except high waisted girls ones. They are sexy sexy sexy.  I spent my last 100 dollars on them but I don’t need to eat. Besides if I eat, I won’t be able to fit them. There was heaps of the previous range and even some original Tsubis. And some sunglasses. And an enviable mens range!

Castle and Things

I coveted Rachel Castle’s range of linen and quirky artwork when I saw them on another blog. And when she left the sweetest comment on mine a few days ago, I knew I had to share her effervescent range with everyone.

She makes the most beautiful handcrafted bedlinen and one off felt embroidered artworks in Sydney with her mum Jillian.

Any Obama fan is a friend of mine.

I want this set of pillows. I would sleep in a pillow fort of them for the rest of my life. Truly.

And she makes lots of use of my all time favourite colour grey and my current favourite, yellow. And her styling is truly superb.

Why Ilovelenko

The Lenko Boutique in Melbourne Central is such a treasure trove. They have some of the wittiest, most playful prints and and although all I’ve been able to afford there so far are the uber cool bendy pencils and ice cream tub lipbalms, they have hands-down the best packaging. No gross plastic bags here. The stuff we bought was neatly packed into these foil takeaway containers. I half expected to open them to find succulent lamb meatballs or tandoori chicken like I would in India.

They also sell the best greeting cards. I met the poet at the Spigeltent market and fell in immense like with her work. This one is my favourite. See the rest here and buy some.
